of course a bachelor's degree is useless in math, but I'll be going for my Ph.D. which will actually do something

and a math undergrad degree means you can study all sorts of things later on - physics, econ, pure math, etc. and a Ph.D. in econ, especially with a math background, can prove QUITE lucrative. I'm considering following this track.

Then try doing something hard like physics. Of course psych is going to be a joke (albeit an interesting one); over half the people doing it probably have no intention of getting into actual research or clinical psychology, and are doing the major because they can't think of anything else better to do.

Also yay math majors (it's not really my focus, but I would be taking enough math classes anyway that there's no real reason not to get the double major)

I got my Bachelor's in Psychology, getting a master's in Clinical Psych. Going to try for a PhD in Experimental probably. Haven't been "challenged" really, any time I get less than a B it's because I get lazy.

Also, you can sometimes get a good job with just an undergrad math major; one of my friends who just did undergrad math is now working for Google.

Im taking an intro to psych class at ucf.

so far it seems pretty easy except having to write 10 article summaries,.

all the people in this topic are showing off

getting my syllabus was super hard

i didn't know where to put it after i got it, so i cheated off the person next to me and put it in my bag and then left

i'm not proud of it

i know a CS undergrad at my school who'll be a senior and who interned at mozilla this summer.

yeah, CS is more useful in terms of job opportunities, but there's a big overlap with math there. i'll be taking some CS in college too.

it doesn't really matter what you get a degree in sometimes. i got a degree in entomology and i am now a physics teacher. weird how life works sometimes. a lot of times you don't have much control over your path. just embrace it. there may be a plan for you which you have little control over. the only choice you should always take is to be the best you that you can be. its really the only right choice you can make at any given time. and you'll know that its the right one no matter what anyone else says.

my math major friend, who didn't do any research or anything particularly remarkable with his undergraduate career, graduated with a $90k/year job already lined up.

it's called software development, and companies take all sorts.
