Somebody really has to explain to me the appeal of Sky Sanctuary. It's got atmosphere, but that's it.

I like how the modern sonic drift seems to have changed to his spinball move.

It's one of the very few Sonic stages ever to have a decent puzzle, music, isn't linear, is one of the better stages to combine speed with platforming, has secrets out the ass that require either scruntizing the level or playing around with the physics, it has nice aesthetics, a decent and vivid background toward the end (which kinda goes with atmosphere), and it's intro ain't half bad either.

Similarly, Sky Sanctuary has fun throwbacks to past boss fights, music, is one of the better stages to combine speed with platforming, lacks douchebag badniks that appear out of nowhere and there goes all your rings, has a great aesthetic(which kinda goes with atmosphere), the build-up alongside Lava Reef Zone and Hidden Palace is wonderful. You running up a giant crumbling sky castle, battilng jetpack robots to stop Dr. Robotnik's death space station from destroying the world. It's epic on a scale very few Genesis Sonic levels aimed for, much less achieved.

You clearly see the badniks flying in, telling you of their presence.

If you're referring to the Egg Robos, you can clearly see them coming out of the background ahead of time, so you can guess when they're going to appear.
