It's a good name if your goal is to see your daughter being laughed at in grade school.

But then he also likes Tulip as a name for a girl so his opinions for female names are pretty damn bad imo.

lol Tulip.

Agnes is a good name for a grandmother, not a little girl.

This. Some names just... don't work in the 21st Century, y'know?

Eh, everything goes through cycles, even names.

One day a future generation may look back at our names and be like "Ugh that's an old person's name."

My wife and I totally wanted to name our daughter Agatha (as Aggie is a really cute nickname), but crossed it off the list for precisely this reason. <_<

Old women have to start off somewhere.

I personally like Esther as name that most people think is used mainly for old women. But it's kind of nice in its own way.

Yeah, that's an awesome site. I used to look up names all the time there.

It's also got a neat little trend chart of boy and girl names through the decades, so that's cool.

It's definitely one of the nicest "looking" names, at least to me.

The '' worst '' name I personally like in that sense is Elizabeth, doubt I'll call my daughter that though, I love Alice too much.

I love the name Elizabeth.

Girl names are a bit harder for me to decide on. I like a lot of them. Decided on a boy's name long ago though.

and

http://www.csmonitor.com/Science/2010/0614/Baby-names-have-long-lasting-effects-for-better-or-worse

should be enough of an argument to persuade any responsible parent not to name their baby Agnes.

Basically, giving your kid a "unique" name does them a disservice.

The funny thing about that article is that Ashley and Shannon were originally masculine names that eventually became feminine names.
