I know man. I don't understand the love these games get. Mother was a random encounter + grindfest. Not to mention it took a lot of willpower to finish it.

EarthBound was a good game overall but nowhere near as good as what some of their fans make it out to be

Now Mother 3. That! game was awesome

I respect that it gave rise to Earthbound and Mother 3, but it's still not that fun to actually play.

Probably my biggest problem with Mother is the tremendous spike in difficulty of the enemies at the end. It slowed the progress of the game to a relative crawl when it was already a ridiculous crawl to begin with.

Mother 3 had pretty much the exact opposite gameplay going on, I don't think I had to grind once in that game.

^ This shows how RPGs have developed for the better good over the years. People these days complain about the slightest hint of grinding when they don't know what true grinding actually was a.k.a Phantasy Star II, Dragon Quest II and this game.

Do you mean Mother 1, AKA Earthbound Zero? I'll just do both since I'm confused.

I meant the original Mother game which would be EarthBound Zero. If it was EarthBound I would have named the topic "Rate this RPG (Day 16)- EarthBound or Mother 2"
