Just saw an interview with Ron Paul on PBS*. Paul talked up being opposed to corporatism, but when the interviewer asked him how this squares with his rejection of regulations and what would be there to stop corporations from running amuck, he just replied that "The free market would make sure that companies wouldn't be propped up by bailouts if they couldn't make money." which doesn't really have anything to do with the question at hand.

*Link if anyone's interested: http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/politics/july-dec11/ronpaul_07-20.html
Not anything particularly noteworthy though.

yeah, this "de-regulate the market to make corporations better" is a huge disconnect from reality. we've had less regulated markets in the US before and the results were worse for consumers and workers across the board.

those polls are telling you entirely different pieces of information!

one tells you that he's within striking distance of Obama (Rasmussen), the other just tells you that he's better than the other Republican candidates. the difference is 7 points in the CNN poll, which I find a lot more believable. considering how far off Rasmussen is from the other major polls every go around, I'm surprised anyone but Fox News even mentions their name!

Also, I'm not quite sure what you're attempting to imply.

If you're going the traditional route and attempting to smear Rasmussen by implying he's some sort of GOP stooge, then why on Earth would he be delivering results that benefit Ron Paul? The GOP and Fox News hate Ron Paul. Even Glenn Beck is making a concerted effort to pretend he doesn't exist.

It's unlikely that discussing weed will become legal on GameFAQs if it becomes legal in the US. Keep in mind that even if weed was legal in the US, it's still going to be illegal in almost every other country.

Being based in the United States, I would think that decisions on moderating based on "illegal activities" would depend on US law, not "almost every other country"

I dunno, I like it when people have that casual confidence when they speak, like they know they know what they're talking about and don't feel the need project an aura authority and rant and rave and rile the crowd up. People always go on about what a great orator Obama is but I think his manner of speaking makes him sound like an idiot. Trying too hard sort of thing.

Probably in the minority on this.

Well, you're right, but only to a certain extent.

GWB is a good example of what you're talking about I think. He wasn't the most eloquent speaker in the world, but overall he still did okay and was still a good politician in terms of giving speeches.

Ron Paul just isn't. He comes across as awkward. He has the public speaking ability of a regular person rather than someone who has spent their whole life trying to become a professional politician.

I think the problem with Ron Paul is that he always makes sure to give a flat answer somewhere in his explanations. People think he's going to "trample abortion rights" when really he just opposes abortion at a personal level. There is no constitutional amendment that makes abortion illegal, so he won't prevent anyone from having one. He doesn't believe in gay marriage, but he doesn't think the federal government should step in and tell people who they can marry.

Ron Paul is EASILY the most sound mind on the economy, and has been for some time. He's been trying to audit the fed for a loooong time now, and only now has anyone else really jumped on that thought process with him. Seriously, he's just too sensible for our country. We want to give the rich more and let them trample all over our rights and lives simply because they have the money/power to. When people want to take a stand and get their country back from the 1% who runs the show, he'll be the perfect man to help us do so. Unfortunately, we're all just too pacified to realize how far that pole is being stuck up our ass.

Right. It's sad how 100 years of tyrannical executives have conditioned us to believe that when a Presidential candidate says "I believe in X" he means "I will do absolutely everything within my power to ensure that my belief in X is forced upon the entire globe." Ron Paul may believe in things you don't, but he believes even more in your right to make those decisions for yourself, or to decide them at the local or state level rather than the federal level.

Ron Paul is against big government, meaning he is against every major gain we've made in workers rights over the last 100 years. Fair labor practices really only exist when government exists to stop companies from doing ****ty things. I believe RP is on the record as wanting to allow labor to organize so long as companies are allowed to do whatever they want (fire them all, for instance). A labor organization not backed by government is worthless.

On my facebook feed, one of many Ron Paul pages was talking about how the headline said "Bachmann wins straw poll, Pawlenty finishes third." and how that shows the media's bias to snub out RP since he finished behind her with 1% less votes. Now that Pawlenty has dropped out, I wonder where his votes will go.
