Palpatine could also pretty much make a force wormhole and suck it up
yes he could

Palps would have to get the jump on Voldy to win. Sneak up behind him, force pull his wand, and it's over. But if they meet face to face, it's over for Mr. Sidious.

But it's not like he could actually defeat Voldemort with all of his Horcruxes. The only thing that managed to temporarily stop him was love, and Palpatine ain't got that.

I'd think it would depend on how strong each of the Horcruxes is in the force, cause Sidious can definitely sense things over galactic size spaces, but I'm not sure each individual horcrux is strong enough to be felt

Coincidence that a self-avowed Communist is so against democracy and traditional marriage? - SephG after misquoting me hilariously
Well, there's also the fact that Avada Kedavra is an Unforgivable Curse, and since many good wizards are above those, they tend to not use them. It's a pride/nobility sort of thing.

Yeah, Voldemort's biggest downfall is his pride, he loves the idea of leaving himself with one single incredibly unlikely-to-be-found Death Star-esque weakness just for dramatic effect.
He could have just made a random rock into a Horcrux and threw it into the ocean, but no, he loved those "significant artifacts."

You know, one thing's still bothering me. Somewhere it's said that "no one has ever ripped his soul into seven pieces" or something along those lines. So no one has killed more than five times before Voldemort? Really?

For the record I think Sidious would win, since he would be able to sense Voldemort before Voldemort would be able to sense him.
Wizards of Voldemort level CAN do spells without saying the words, but the more advanced the spell the more difficult it is. I'm not sure if something as intense as Avada Kedavra could be done silently. Just conjecture though.

I don't think it would be that easy to blast Voldemort with Avada Kedavra to beat him...
*Harry Potter series spoilers*
The Horcruxes don't change the fact that the only two times Voldemort lost a duel (not counting him just being driven off) was because his own spells backfired on him. He was obviously skilled enough to take on any wizard who came after him. Wasn't he taking on three Hogwarts teachers at the end of DH? And he even made Dumbledore merely draw with him in their battle. The Horcruxes assured his survival even defeat, but his skill made sure that he rarely would be defeated in the first place.
I don't think using AK against him would be easy. Aside from the fact that you'd have to find an opening to use it while dueling before he kills you first, it's difficult to use Unforgivable Curses "unless you truly mean it", and Avada Kedavra has to be the hardest of all to master. Very few noble wizards would be able to casually use it even if they wanted to kill Voldemort, let alone use it well, and while being under attack.

I don't really get the "really meaning it" part when applied to AK. I mean, either you kill someone or you don't. There's no middle ground. So you could actually be firing a completely useless spell.
Actually that does make a bit of sense.

Yeah, it's like Barty Crouch Jr. told the kids when he was teaching DADA under the guise of Mad-Eye Moody, the entire class could have pointed their wands at him and said the words and he wouldn't even get a nosebleed.
It takes a real desire to end a human's life to actually make the spell work.

Eh you guys way overestimate AK. Spells are easily dodged/redirected/blocked otherwise whenever the Death Eaters fought the Order it would be over in 10 seconds based on whoever lands the first Stunner/AK/whatever . There is much more to a duel, you have to be fast, you have to use your surroundings, etc.
one of the main force powers is intuitive future sight, they tone it down in games n stuff, but he could definitely block stuff, and generally just absorb spells. see how samuel jackson absorbs area-effect lightning magic into his lightsaber in some movie or sommat
plus harry dodges that death spell by jumping behind a tombstone or something a couple times in the books
