Travesty. And now the psychopath will profit off her celebrity, having ample time to do so now that she's free of the terrible burden of being a mom.

Simply awful.

From what I've seen of the trial, the issue was more about there being a lack of decisive evidence.

From: Leebo86 | #015
mostly circumstantial evidence.

From: Jmast7 | #020
the prosecutors brought some pretty sketchy science

You all as much said in this topic that you all thought the evidence for the prosecution wasn't good enough. The whole point of the trial process is that you're only guilty if the prosecution can prove beyond reasonable doubt that the defendant is guilty. Clearly they couldn't.

Therefore: Not Guilty.

Whether or not she actually did it is irrelevant, they couldn't prove she did it, so she gets off.

I wouldn't say this is a failure. It's not like there was DNA evidence like in the OJ trial, at least I don't think there was. I think she was probably guilty too, but in a case like this it just comes down to whether the jury can believe the prosecution wholeheartedly. As long as there's some sort of reasonable doubt as to whether or not she killed her daughter, you can't convict.

It's not a failure for the prosecution but it's a failure to the courts though. She's been in prison for 2 1/2 years almost and now there's nothing to show for it. One kid is dead and the person responsible for at least burying her is free somewhere. Casey Anthony or not the little girl didn't bury herself in a swamp.

Oh, I'm not surprised at all given the way the case was presented. But this decision is still a travesty, even moreso if she ends up profiting off this in some way.

I really hope she at least gets the full four years in prison for her lies. Perhaps then everyone will have forgotten about her when she's finally released. :P
