I'm reading the Green Arrow Industries Flashpoint tie-in now, and Ollie is talking to Roy, cool, Roy is saying Ollie can make a difference, cool, hope for them teaming up and taking down some villains with bow and arrows--
Roy is suddenly dead with an arrow stuck in his neck on the next page.
F*** YOU DC.

I just reread Morrison's Jason Todd story on a whim and I think it may be Morrison's worst work ever. I actively hate his characterization of Jason Todd and I don't think he got the character at all.
Or maybe he was pulling a Magneto and trying to make him look bad or something.
Morrison was trying to make Jason Todd into something that he's not and he became randomly verbose and got this holier-than-thou attitude. That doesn't seem at all what Jason would be like. Winnick's characterization of him in Under the Red Hood was simpler, but a lot more effective: he's a vigilante that's not above cutting off a few heads to get what he wants.
And then putting those heads in a duffel bag.
And then giving that duffel bag to the heads of drug rings and telling them to step off.

Well duh, that last panel is obviously upside down. Chrome Girl isn't actually standing on the ground, she's the one flying upside down as she punches the other girl. Makes more sense than her standing anyways.
What I want to know is where all those restraints went. And also why one of her legs is so much shorter than the other in the third panel.

Clearly the porn he was tracing over only had the top half of the woman in the shot, so he had to improvise with the legs.

In better news, I'm already hooked on New Mutants volume 2 after 1 issue. It's great finding current ongoing series to like that aren't too long yet but still have plenty of content to read!
Magik also seems pretty great.
Karma too. Seems like she's had it pretty rough as an formerly 600-pound orphaned Vietnamese lesbian raising her 2 younger siblings while teaching at Xaviers and losing a leg
And I know Land is terrible, but he at least brought us this:
Now I'm perfectly aware that he traces, but he still made the pornstar he traced into Black Widow, so I gotta give him credit there. And that's why I can't bring myself to hate him more than I hate Liefeld.

Someone actually found some porn screencap that is clearly traced by Land into the book.
Anyway, New Mutants #18-31 back in the 1980s was the best. That Bill Sienkiewicz artwork too godlike. Here are a few drawings of the bear, pre-Sienkiewicz (Bob McLeod, from issue #3; Sal Buscema, from issue #17):
then the actual Sienkiewicz bear:

He must come cheap, because he's been on the book for ages. Hell, the next story arc of UXM is drawn by Greg Land. THE FINAL ISSUE OF UNCANNY X-MEN'S ORIGINAL RUN WILL BE DRAWN BY GREG LAND. The new relaunch in November is gonna have him during the art chores.
Thank God for "Wolverine and the X-men" with Jason Aaron and Chris Bachalo
If we don't get someone crazy good on writing duties here I don't think I'll be able to suffer through Land.
Also the newish X-Men series that started with the vampires is pretty...not good. Hopefully it doesn't end up being important in crossovers, from the looks of it it won't be.
The Wolverine and Jubille followup mini to the first arc was pretty great, though!
The arc after the vampire one is pretty good, if for no other reason then "I kick yo face" Spidey and Chris Bachalo. And yes, Kieron Gillen is still there, that's the only thing keeping me interested in that book.
More than that, Holy Terror looked like damaged goods from a distance. In 2006, Miller had talked publicly about the project as a Batman epic titled Holy Terror, Batman! with the Caped Crusader undertaking a blood quest against the Taliban after a terrorist attack on his beloved Gotham City.
This is my first time hearing about this and HOLY CRAP WHAT
Yeah, it was suppose to be Batman vs Osama Bin Landen. Everyone was like "lol wtf frank miller that the dumbest thing ever" and it never happened. But apparently it IS happening, sans Batman's name.
But c'mon, look into the eyes of that guy in the red and tell me that isn't Frank Miller's Batman. He'll smack you so hard your grandkids will look like him.
Yeah, that thing has been out-of-print for years. There are 3 New X-men Ultimate Collection volumes that collect the whole run that I own and love though, so its all good.
