do you continue to eat normally or do you stick to a certain diet to help feel better (cognee, soup, fresh fruit, lemon wedges) ?

Cough drops. Sip water. Before bed a swing of cough syrup. Don't eat until I feel normal again.

I do, like, 4 of those things.

how do you deal with needing to cough up mucus, but it's too painful to cough it up?

Cough drops (ricola specifically, the medication in normal cough drops tend to make me nauseous. While not effective, the herbal mix in ricola works and also tastes good), and tea with honey.

Ginger beer, you can get some non-alcoholic ones that are amazing for a sore throat.

Combination of cough drops/orange juice/cold medicine

If that doesnt work, I go to the doctor, I have good insurance

What kind of sore throat? The scratchy, raspy kind you get from being sick, or the dull, bruised-like soreness from deepthroating?

Drink lots of liquids and take medication, usually.

Combination of hot tea with honey and a theraflu packet sprinkled in usually does the trick.

I drink a lot of orange, and it becomes not sore. Then my nose starts running.

Hot toddy works good. Supplements, some non tobacco smoke. Sleep.

Gargle saltwater, gargle a prescription mouthwash if I have it, cough drops, chloraseptic, Alka Seltzer Plus Severe Cold if it turns into more symptoms (it usually does), and see a doctor if there are any signs of infection like coughing up or blowing out yellow.

either nothing if its out of nowhere and isn't persistent or cough drops.

If there's other symptoms I'll take OTC meds.

Add iodized salt to hot (HOT) water and gargle it.

Tea with honey seems to work better than pretty much anything else for me.

Gargle warm salt water. Drink garlic ginger tea with honey and lemon.

It's been a long time. Think I would gargle water with salt in it. It was a temporary fix but it helped.

Lots of liquids and popsicles made with real fruit juice. Especially for the sick sore throat. Really helps honestly.
