yes it is.

bread serving as a container for toast is not, however, another food type.

this logic isn't even hard, or unprecedented.

KFC sold the double down as a single sandwich exactly because of how its bread and meat layers were constructed.

It can be if you do something interesting with the toast. Like if it's French toast or something. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to have a French toast sandwich.

yeah that's called a Monte Christo.

but it has meat and cheese. you're not just eating another slice of plain bread in between the french toast.

As long as the middle bread is a different type than the outer breads, you can make a sandwich out of three slices of bread.
