Where the oldest child has to play parent to younger siblings due to necessity such as parents having to work long hours or have to look after a child with a disability?

Part of growing up is accepting more responsibility. If helping with siblings is something that needs to be done, I don't see anything wrong with that at all.

I do think it should never become a full responsibility for the older siblings, especially at the expense of developing their own life outside the home as well. But a helping hand and giving parents a break is great.
