i bought it on steam so i could get a refund if i played it for less than 2 hours. I put 73 minutes in and was unimpressed by the game. This is the first COD i bought at launch in a loooong time too. I normally wait til they drop down to like 20-30 bucks and out of curiosity i'll buy it, but i skipped vanguard and world war 2, very nearly skipped MW2 as well until i saw it on a deep discount.

Only bought infinite warfare because you needed it to play a much better game, COD4 remastered. Refused to play that DMZ/Warzone nonsense too

Yeah I jumped in solely because it's about as close to MW2 2009 remaster as we'll get. I had no intention of buying it until I saw it was literally just those elite MW2 maps. Fully recognize I'm part of the problem there, spending $70 on old maps with a fresh coat of paint, but I'll take your flames in stride.

The campaign is totally rippable. No objections there. But I played the MP for a bit at release last night and was excited to be back. Loved the lobby chats of people saying how glad they were be to be back in 2009.

So, yeah. tldr anyone expecting solidness or buying COD just for the campaign is just delusional. You know what COD is about at this point.

the overly complicated gun upgrade system is one of my biggest beefs with the game. Remember when you just unlocked attachments at levels? Now you have to do weekly sidequests and shit to get a fuckin red dot sight

Although thats far from just a MW3 issue, whenever they introduced it is when i really started disliking COD. Although i have practically been retired since MW3. Played the hell out of 4, MW2, and Black Ops, then MW3 came and i was like "this is the same goddamn game" and got to like level 11 and quit. Never played COD nearly as much again.

They seriously stuck with that system? This was one of the reasons I stopper playing MW II so quick. You shouldn't have to use another gun to unlock an attachment for a completely different gun. Very dumb decision to keep that.

The alternatives are either go back to having no attachment variety or every gun has like 200 levels at this point.

From what I could tell, the weekly challenges or whatever for attachments are an alternative to unlocking them through leveling a weapon.

A part of me wants to play it for the MW2 maps, but another part of me knows that it wasn't just the maps, but the mechanics and brokenness that made MW2 special. This probably just won't feel the same, Idk.

Wish they just did a MW2 remaster honestly.

Also, I feel this is just part of the hatetuber-industry. Don't get me wrong, CoD is kinda garbo for many reasons, but I don't think this is something new, and feels more like engagement farming where you take something that isn't really that much worse than how it's usually done, and make it look horrible in order to generate interest for your posts/videos. Hatetubers are an incredibly large industry nowadays tbh.

Not that I want to be seen as going to bat for Activision as I'm no bootlicker, but I also hate this market of overdramatizing something in order to sell that hatred.

I'm likely not ever buying another CoD unless I hear that it has an absolutely phenomenal campaign. I've played them all since CoD2 mainly for the campaigns (played a lot of multiplayer as well but fell off of it after Ghosts) and last year's MWII was one of the weaker ones by far. I didn't pick up MWIII and it turns out that was the right decision.

at the risk of gatekeeping, it's a casual friendly game played by many who do not actually branch out into other games. Like how sims players mostly play the sims, sports players mostly play sports, etc..

Sure to us gamers who have been gaming for years, MGS is damn near a household name, we play many games a year, to them COD is everything.

the OG mw trilogy has one of the GOAT campaigns of all time.

iconic moments like "40,000 people used to live here, now it's a ghost town" "oi suzi", "RAMIREZ GET TO THE BURGER TOWN!", the wolverines reference, white house mission

okay damn near the entire trilogy was iconic. Stakes felt real too because characters actually died. How many times did gamers replay the mw2 betrayal mission, or the finale of mw1 to try to save their soldiers >_>

Like how listed stuff from MW1 and MW2 but not MW3 despite mentioning that the OG TRILOGY is what is GOAT

No hate though. Just thought it was kinda funny.

Anyways I'll fill some for you there for MW3
-Repelling the Russian forces from NYC with their own sub's cruise missiles
-Russian airplane mission
-Yuri's revealing backstory and ensuing events as a result
-Fighting off the Russians in France, going through the catacombs, and ending with Eiffel Tower collapsing
-Final mission as a whole

But really lots of good stuff in all three games

They dont need to learn anything. Its making them money, and thats their sole criteria for success. In fact given the AAA game industrys well known contempt for its consumers, theyre probably happier knowing gamers are pissed off as long as the money keeps flowing.

Also how did these series take off and become iconic? I didnt need CoD, because I already had the best FPS (Counter-Strike). I didnt need God of War, because I already had Devil May Cry. I didnt need PUBG or Fortnite, because that genre can go fuck itself.

Thats another thing I cannot understand - FPS with a controller. Ive only played one at a friends house and after 5 seconds trying to aim with the right analog stick I was screaming for a mouse and keyboard.

GoldenEye on N64 did it right, but you arent expected to be precise in that game and it also has a degree of auto-aim. You could never hope to perform at a competitive level like that.

I've come around on it - the game sucks complete ass

The hit detection and/or the servers are completely awful, I have a ping of around 20 and I'm frequently dying faster than I did in MWII, only to see a killcam where it actually took 5 or 6 hits, while I can put 6 bullets in a guy and he turns around and kills me instantly

I'm having to play like an absolute asshole just to get a 1.0 K/D when I was averaging a 2.0 just last week in MWII not trying at all

My games are all absolutely filled with people just camping one spot the entire game
