If I quit this job I'll never make the same or more money anywhere else. But it has my blood pressure and anxiety so high right now. I called out yesterday because I could barely walk. I'm ok to go in today but we have corporate coming and I know nothing got done to set us up well after I called out yesterday. Which means I'm going to be worked to absolute death today to make up for it and.... I don't know if I can do it.

blogfaqs I'm sorry I'm just so fucking stressed. Been working here 10 years and thought about quitting more and more over this last year and a half.

I make $19 an hour but trust me it's the most I'll ever make. I had to fight for most of those 10 years to get to that and no other retailer is gonna pay me that much. Can't change careers to make more money because my knees and back are shot and I don't have the education or people skills.

Dude, you make under $40K a year. Believe ME, your 10 years in any industry are worth way more than that.

That is not the most you could potentially ever make, but you are definitely doing it wrong. You need to update your resume, and market yourself to other companies in the same industry. Not work for the same company for a decade and get a 20 cent raise every year, then convince yourself you'll never make more.

Seriously, have some self respect, pick yourself up off the ground, and start working on getting a new job offer. At the very least $40K a year isn't worth being as stressed out as you are.

You could go in a plant. They start you off at that. No education required

This guy is right.

Regardless of your qualifications and skill set, you can definitely earn more than that, though it may not be easy or immediate.

Also, getting stressed out is something that should be reserved for roles where they give you fair financial recompense. Nobody on that wage should be stressed about work.
