Having to use dating apps again after three years and they haven't changed much since the last time. There are still a lot of spam/scam profiles which I'd break into two groups:

1. Literal scam accounts (repeats standard script, recycles images between accounts, tries to get you off the app so that they can use "age verification" or some other "put in your credit card" type thing.)
2. "Soft" scams (real people who aren't interested in dating/meeting but are instead trying to get people to subscribe to their various paid social media or content sites)

As someone who has never created an account searching for men, I was curious whether the same spam problem exists there. I imagine that the success rate would be lower so it might be not worth as much effort but idk the scam-anomics. Curious if anyone on CE has had any experience.

I imagine gay men understanding how to be homies makes it a lot easier to also be smashies.

Sure that was my thought, but I think that impacts the category 2 people more, the category 1 people aren't actually "real" in the first place.
