Because when you have 8s & 9s coming out, work for a living, have other shit to do & then a "yeah it's not bad, not great, it's just fine 7/10" comes out...Generally you have better shit to do, Immortals of Aveum falls into this bucket too.

That? Or Armored Core VI, BG3, MK1, Rune Factory 3 Special for 39.99$, or anything else that isn't 70$ is an easy math problem to solve lol

7/10 is a decent game that's probably worth playing. Maybe a must play if it's your favorite type of game.

My logic is a 7~ on a game is fine if it's short or not a super dedicated thing, but unless I really liked the particulars there's just no way I'm investing dozens of hours on a 7/10 RPG-like game. I could play much better games with that kind of time investment

IGN only gives good scores to Japanese games if it's Nintendo. A Japanese game hasn't gotten a score higher than 5 in the past 15 years .

It is. A 7/10 to one person could mean a 4/10 to another.

Then there's the time factor. What was a 7/10 like 20 years ago is a 1/10 now because we simply cannot excuse what was excused that long ago.

it's because so many people we're trying to crown it as GotY before it even came out. like it's been over a decade since bethesdas last GotY.

This is an absurdly good year for games. While a 7/10 might not be bad in the grand scheme, for a game as hyped as starfield coming out when it did, it needed to knock it out of the park.

A 7/10 from IGN just means the cheque bounced. Most other places are giving 8's and 9's and 10's.

Its high 80s. Likely a good to great game. Im particularly interested in this precisely because of how similar its scoring to final fantasy 16, which took a beating on this site.

Two long hyped exclusives that didnt universally live up to it. How will the reactions differ is what im waiting to see.

7/10 IS a bad score. It's completely undeserving of getting full MSRP. Saying otherwise is the same line of thinking as "C's get decrees", why settle for subpar products?

Yep, it's this. It's just funny because IGN is one of the companies that gave it a 7 and they often have laughably stupid reasons for lowering their scores. Like the infamous "7.8 too much water" I read their review and only 1 of their complaints (that there's no in-game maps/minimaps) sounds reasonable to me.

What's funny is the obsessively-hostile relationship these types of people have towards reviews and critics. They're the loudest about how they don't care about them, yet they tend to be the ones crying over stuff like this for prolonged periods of time.
