I grew up living in some roach-infested shit holes. Nowadays, seeing one alone springs me into "Kill On Sight" mode.

Don't even get me started on water bugs...

I think ants are harder to get rid of, but I really fucking hate roaches.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

A seemingly dying Water Bug made its way into my home about a week ago. I went in to finish it off, and when I got close it started skittering all over the place and I actually screamed.

I will stop everything I'm doing to make sure those things are dead.

I voted ants, but in retrospect Id rather have roaches than carpenter ants.

If it's just regular black ants I'll take those. I've gotten pretty good at exterminating them. Gotten rid of infestations at both my place and my parents place.

Fire ants, carpenter ants, or worse, please give me the roaches.

I vote ants because they're pretty easy to kill off with Terro or similar products.

Getting rid of ants and roaches is a simple matter of cleaning up clutter and sealing any gaps from your home to the outside. "Water bugs" or silverfish is a matter of finding any leaks in your pipes and eliminating any areas with heavy moisture.

There is no getting rid of bed bugs unless you torch everything in your home. This is not an exaggeration. If a couch gets infested with bed bugs, it should instantly be tossed into a bonfire. I've seen and heard the stories. Old neighbor was a dedicated bed bug exterminator. Makes low six figures but works 6 days a week 10 hour days.

Depends how bad the infestation is I guess... Assuming not very bad probably roaches.

I'd take ants and roaches over bed bugs though, I know that. If you ever get bed bugs you better fix it fast, and then pray it actually is fixed, cause otherwise your only options will be living with them or burning everything you own and starting over.

Obviously cockroaches are the grossest creatures.

But ants and cockroaches are easy to get rid of with traps.

It's gnats or drain flies that seem to be unkillable, even with traps

This.

Exterminating ants is a million times easier than roaches in my opinion

Ants eat food. You can play around that and abuse their social nature to deliver and spread poison to other ants and colonies.

Roaches eat dirt, soap, hair, fingernails, books, cardboard, anything. You minimize roach infestations, but you dont end them.

Dealt with ants a couple times and it's usually some cleaning and baiting to get rid of them. Also, their lines help.

Roaches...man, you just kinda maintain them depending on where you live. My lady and I have done so much and you won't see one for a while, then all of a sudden they're everywhere. Germans are the worst!
I'd maybe live in my car over living in this place again.

I've never had a german cockroach infestation. Actually looking back on it I could be mistaking them for those large nasty black crickets.

You can usually stop a roach infestation from ever taking off with just basic combat (the poison I mean, not fighting them). After a point though, no, probably nothing is going to work completely. Even a professional exterminator.

American cockroaches are easier to deal with. They like to live outdoors near pools of water and won't even come into your house as often unless you've got a leak somewhere. You can usually just kill them on sight. They're also far fewer in numbers than German cockroaches.

I've lived in flea, ant, and bedbug infested places. The flea infestation was the absolute worst. I think i spent almost 8 years constantly (as in every couple of seconds) killing fleas that were on me biting me. And no matter how many times we tried to kill the population (fumigated the basement apartment many times) they didn't ever die off because my landlord never did their side correctly, and likely their barn like yard space was infested too.
