Where they're just blatantly racist and corrupt like him, MTG, and Desantis. Miss the days where they're at least PC about it like Romney

It depends. If the GOP keeps taking Ls in national elections, they'll have to move past Trump era politics or they'll die out.

Doubt it, looks to me when younger republicans start getting into office they're going to be even more extreme, and will care about democracy even less

If they can't get absolutely anything going (including the aforementioned destruction of democracy), they might start changing. But that's going to take many years most likely. At the very least it's going to be many years before a moderate (read: not completely insane) Republican can seriously suggest "You know, minorities hate us, can we do something to get any of them to vote for us?" again.

Behavioral trends go in and out of fashion all the time. The Trump cult mentality of constant chaos, agitation, and flagrant egomaniacal incompetence is already falling out of fashion with the general public, and costing the GOP election after election.

Trump has irrevocably and completely altered the political landscape. It's no longer about who represents what. It's whoever is the loudest and most charismatic (which to be clear I don't think he is, but clearly his cult members do

Pretty much, because blatant corruption is the only way they can hold power now.

Yeah, elections are expensive. The fat cats aren't going to keep throwing money out the window for an L.

Maybe. It seems like that's what the base wants and respond to most strongly, but I can't imagine the folks at the top are unaware of the lack of national appeal and that it's a losing strategy. I think we'll see a lot of candidates in the mold for a while, but leadership will be trying hard to pivot to something different.

The real question is, when someone who is "Trump-Lite", basically Trump's politics but more articulate, less brash, and a cleaner background, will the "Never Trump-ers" still care enough to come out in droves to vote against him?

I guess the question is what percentage of the never trumpers don't want to be swindled again
