Yeah, real velociraptors were only about as tall as turkeys.

By an astonishing coincidence, though, the Utahraptor was discovered a year before the first movie came out, and its size is much more in line with Jurassic Park's "velociraptors".

Yeah, the movies more "accurately" portray a species called a deinonychus, but Crichton/Spielberg used the velociraptor name as it objectively sounded much cooler.

Wonder what the Toronto NBA team would've been called if not for the decision.

Yeah, its not really news that the film's raptors are much more in line with Utah raptors.
And that they had feathers.
