To be fair in South Korea men have mandatory military service for 1-2 years while women don't, so of course the guys there are pissed.

You know what else?

People who served used to get an affirmative action type leg up on getting hired after their service... which was pretty important considering the cutthroat condition there.

Women got it, too, if they served.

But feminists complained it was a discrimination against women because only a small number of women benefited (due to many not serving), where as nearly all men benefited (due to conscription).

So it got cancelled.

I imagine more than few men were unhappy.

Feel like the movie was going to end up too feminist for too many, and not enough feminist for too many others in that market.

Yup, it's a nation which is super male driven. Female celebrities that have attempted to promote any type of feminism usually gets cancelled or receive public death threats.
