ok so here's the concept. Game has a story you go through like in Final Fantasy 14. And there would be multiple expansions. But each time you complete the main story of the base game or one of the expansions, you can then move your character to the next one, which requires you leaving for another server. So every server is locked forever in 1 era of the game. Like imagine if in World of Warcraft, you just beat Shadowlands , and now you have to move to the Dragonflight server or just be stuck forever in Shadowlands

Now you might be wondering what the point of this is. End game. Of each expansion. In most mmos, the end game of only the most recent expansion is ever relevant. Usually people just skip the old end game content of older expansions. In this idea, every expansion would have a thriving end game community, and after finishing the main quest line, you could linger as long as you want to do any end game raids and such and move on only when you want to

Okay, so, lets say we have Final Fantasy XIV.

ARR + 4 add ons are already here, Add On number 5 is on the way.

So, you would like to split this community into 6 parts, with 5 of them having no content update at all for years?

There wont be a "driving end game community" years after the last content update. How long do you think people are going to be satisfied with killing Bahamut all over again and again?

There would always be new characters moving through the story so each expansion would have people. People are always starting new characters

Every MMO idea you have is worse than the last.

Yes, that's literally me right now, because I rejoined FF XIV two months ago, and just finished Shadowbringer story up to 5.2 or something like that.

Guess what: My social contacts I currently have ingame are mostly in Endwalker, some are behind me.

But finding people at peak level 80 content? Good luck with that.
