Current Events > Almost went to the ER with my levator scapula problem this morning.

Its so bad today, woke up in extreme pain, neck and shoulder stiff, neck still wants to turn now towards my shoulder. Cant find any comfortable position.

Had to call my parents to come help, talked to the doctor and they prescribed stronger antiinflammatory and upped my muscle relaxants.

Hopefully meds starts to kick in soon. Going to sleep is fucking horrible man, I dont want to wake up like this again.

Been 3 weeks now with constant pain and its just gotten worse. Meeting physio again next week.

Finally found a comfy position, sitting up with
back against a high couch pillow with a spike mat on it. Now pain is only a 6 and I can be still.

Im glad the weather is crap, wouldve given me so mich fomo otherwise.

Godammit accidentally took 2 naproxen instead of acetaminophen.

Took one this morning and can take 2 per day and I wasnt supposed to take more than the 1 as I had taken my previois NSAID early morning.

It feels like the pain has changed characters. I cant be still, I keep having to move after being still. There is no way Ill get a minute of sleep, painkillers help nothing.

i had a cold that lasted 4 days (the worse of it) i couldn't sleep either.

Once my back pain started it lasted for like 2 years before it became bearable.

Oh god, how you cope?

Sounds like what my neck before my surgery. Being in that much pain sucks man. It's easy to see how people get hooked on pain meds. You eventually reach a point where you just want it to fucking stop so bad that you'll do anything.

Hope your levitation spatula is doing better

3 ruptured discs, one of which was bulging enough that it was compressing the nerve to the point where I lost most of the use of my left arm. So they replaced and then fused c5 to c6 and c6 to c7. I managed to do it all without painkillers, just muscle relaxers but it was one of if not the worst periods of my life.

Im wondering if I have a disc hernia, but I dont have any numbness.

Soon 4 am and im writhing in pain, maybe I need to go to the ER, cant stand this pain.

Been awake 24h. Nurse on phone thinks it sounds like nerve pain, physio said it wasnt nerve pain.

But I stopped Gabapentine (for nerve pain) in the weekend and the pain got worse each day. So maybe she is right. Meeting a doctor in 2h.

Im starting to suspect herniated disc.

That sounds awful. Go to the ER! My dad had herniated disc, he was in bed for six months because sitting up hurt too much.

Yup, doctor thinks it could be herniated disc, back on Gabapentine to a higher dose and 14 pills of oxycodone 5mg for this acute pain (3/day max)

Havent slept in 31 hours.

I asked about scans to confirm but apparently an MRI is considered if I still have pain after 3 months.

I hope I only need meds and physio to heal.

The Oxycodone helps a bit but nothing on my shoulder and neck where I have nerve pain.

Almost impossible to find a position where none of the points trigger pain.

Gonna be another sleepless nighr. Hope the gabapentine will help with the nerve pain.

Yeh, my sister had this and she got MRI after 3 months. She was on sick leave for 6 months.

Anyway, finally could sleep, somewhere near 4am pain was relieved from one side and I could find a position.

Atm most of my pain is on my neck and shoulder and its pretty bad bit Im happy I can lie still, cant sit och be up without constant movement tho.

Backstory? I feel like I missed a topic. How exactly did this happen because it sounds dreadful.

I have no idea what caused this.

But 4 weeks ago my shoulder and neck was tender and a little bit of pain no biggie.
A week later I wake up with lots of pain on my shoulder and neck, took a weel before I could get a physio appointment who disgnosed me with inflammation of the levator scapula muscle and constant spasm to some of the ribs.

Got some meds and physio program to follow.

On thursday when I made this topic it had gotten much worse. And now the doctors think its herniated disc in my neck.

Gotta say this has been torture for a few days. But even if its really bad today but still better than yesterday gives me hope.

Godammit, had a good day so I could lie down without pain bothering too much but now its 3am and havent been able to lie down comfortably since midnight. Took an oxy now, hope ot helps.

Im feeling anger, I fucking hate this!!! I hate that I need help and cant do everything myself, I hate being limited, I hate not being able to sleep well, I hate I miss work and lose money!

Now Im in extreme pain again and meds doesnt seem to do it, had a good day yeaterday msybe I used my arm too much.

Impossible to find a position without pain, tomorrow I have physio and wednesday my doctor.

Hope I can get some help for times I have extreme pain ans tips on positions to rest at.

I have a breakdown every morning, feels like Im being tortured.

Meds do nothing anymore, cant sit, cant lie down, emotionally destroyed, if I cant fall asleep tonight I may have to go to the ER

Ok I know Im spamming the topic. But Im wondering if it actually is frozen shoulder.

Lot of the stuff about it fits my condition, today my shoulder has been the worst. It feels a bit stiffer, and when I roll the shoulde it doesnt roll all smooth and can feel clicks with my thumb.

Could be a combination of stuff, my neck still hurts.

Keep us updated. I wasn't aware frozen shoulder would hurt so bad. But you're definitely doing the right thing going to the ER again.

I dunno how much frozen shoulder can hurt.
Not been to the ER, prob not going tonight either. It feels a bit better, been using heat pads, spike mat and now icing it, think I could find a position for it, but atm cant find one for my neck pain.

How did you rupture them?

Didnt sleep at all last night, could not find a resting position without major pain.

Was to the physiotherapist, got some tape on my shoulder that hurts, he could not examine me because I have too much pain and wants to wait what the doctor says tomorrow. I got to try a TENS machine and it helped a bit, so he put an order for one I can rent for $10/month, hope I ger it quick.

Got home and finally fell asleep, woke up screaming because of pain after 2 hours.

This is the worst illness experience Ive ever had, the pain is torture, meds dont do much anymore.

Gonna try to endure until tomorrow, but ER is still an option.

Woke up screaming in pain again. Hope my neighbors dont hear me.

So doctor increased my 2x3 Gabapentine to 3x3. Got no more opioids.
No MRI cuz I dont have constant loss of sensation in my arm.

I just have to endure my extreme pain as there is nothing he can do for it and wait for the gabapentine to kick in which takes a week or so.

I hate this but I have no other choice than to trust this or Id go insane.
