That's terrible... *is* there a minimum wage for them? or just whatever a person owning the land decides to pay them?

And as for modern days, something like 40% of them are illegal immigrants, and nearly all of the remaining are some type of legal immigrant or their direct offspring. Making people even less inclined to pay them a fair wage.

The attitude of "there exist jobs that should not receive proper compensation" is nothing but the rich looking to get even richer.

And the worst part of it is I work with people at the blue collar level who agree with this.

From what I can tell the federal minimum wage applies, which means $7.25 minimum vs the state $13.80 minimum. They're also excluded from state overtime laws.
