Probably a dumb idea, but if they got someone like Allison Janney, Tim Daly, or someone similar (someone recognizable, but not super-duper famous), to be like a corruptible U.S. Embassy Ambassador who loves to gamble or something and put them in the game. That would have been neat. Or even a more well known stateside Korean actor, like Daniel Dae Kim, Yunjin Kim, Steven Yuen, Rick Yune, or Ken Jeong. That would have been neat as well.

Season 1 told its story and wrapped up nicely. I can't think of any hook that would make me excited to revisit this setting. >_>

Choosing to whistle blow the games over seeing his daughter is the hook, and continues the story. Nothing was wrapped up.

Yeah, that was one of the most telegraphed "not actually dead" scenes in all of television. Shot in the shoulder, no body, just discovered his brother's role in everything... of course he was coming back lol

The ending was just an edgy version of "and their adventures continued..." >_>

The story explored its characters and themes exhaustively. All that's left is to just redo the first season again with new characters/games. Then repeat ad nauseum for however many seasons they can milk it for until one of the endings lets the hero actually succeed in getting evidence to the authorities. <_<

There's a bunch of stuff they can do. If they ever do a third season, it might not even be about the games. There could be a more sinister plot beneath the surface, involving the fallout of the games, or about the rich VIPS and their actual role in the games, and who really controls. There is a lot of stuff they can do.

I'll probably watch it, but I have doubts it can live up to the excitement of the first season.

Personally I'd rather have a prequel that focused on the first set of games and how the whole thing got started.

Squid Games is the big example to me with how much social media has changed cultural relevance of movies and TV.

Felt like everyone was talking about this show for a couple of months and then it dropped off just as quick. Only time I'm reminded of it is when I'm at a fun fair and I see toy versions of those masked guys as prizes.

Curious to see how season 2 is. I think it'll take a lot for it to be as interesting. Part of the fun of the first season is seeing how the games escalate and how it all plays out. We know all of that now. Seems like they're banking on the characters but I dunno if that's what people were invested in overall.

The school I was at previously the kids were obsessed with the show. They played red light/green light at recess and sang the song in actual Korean. It was cute. One student even drew this and it was so good I asked her
if I could keep it.

That would turn me off so fast. Like I started reading Attack on Titan because it was people fighting giant monsters. When it started becoming Game of Thrones or whatever and it was all about the politics of the different groups and no more monsters, I stopped reading.

Im pretty excited for it tbh. I loved the first season, and yeah I heard that originally there wasnt going to be a second season as it was never intended, but Im super stoked they changed their mind and can make a second season that can be (hopefully) just as good as the first.

Adding elements to move the story forward is fine. But when the drop the giant monsters entirely it feels like an entire different story.

The writer didn't have anything written, but the season had an open ending. Depending on performance of the show it could have gone either way. The writer did say that if he got the chance to do a second season he had an idea of where he might go with it.
