It's fine. People who pre-order something and then spend the money needed to pay for that pre-order are just bad at budgeting. You should be treating the pre-order as a purchase, not a wishlist. But really... we all need to stop pre-ordering in general. How many company apologies will it take?

If I pre-order something, that money to me is already spent. I wouldn't ever pre-order something if it would trip me up if I got charged earlier than anticipated.

Idk how this is ever an issue for anyone with a credit card. Just wait a few weeks to pay it if you don't have the cash right that second.

Assuming this is vinyl.

Happens a lot with smaller releases, as they can be bumped up the queue if the pressing plant can fit them in between larger volume records.

More often you get an annoying gap between release and vinyl availability because of the manufacturer shortage.

Anything I would pre-order like this I only fo so if I have the money free now anyways, so the entire concept of having a "ruined budget" cannot happen beyond me buying something that would ruin it anyways.

It happened to me with vinyl today. Though, I am fine with it! I was just wondering how people felt about it in general (regardless of the product). I appreciate your input and additional information though on what plays into this occurrence as it helped me understand why this might have happened.

I don't think I've ever pre-ordered a game in my life.
