For centuries I'm pretty sure people used rags to "polish" their teeth

Frank Ramsey was 26 when he died and did enough to cover for me so my date of death is irrelevant

The life expectancy was low because many perished shortly after being born up into early childhood as a result of being injured or getting sick. Those who reached adulthood would often go on to live a full life which was decades longer than the expectancy.

It's actually true.

Cavemen teeth were a lot stronger than ours due to differences in diet, refined sugars and the like.

That doesn't mean that they would have had no use for modern dentistry, just that some things that effect us didn't effect them nearly as strongly.

Plus there is evidence that they did have teeth cleaning, but it was the "chew a twig to clean shit out" sort.

I believe animals do have cavities, but they can also regrow their lost teeth.

Studies show that cavemen not only got cavities, but actually cleaned them and worked on them.

But for a long time people have done anything from using sticks to clean their teeth, to animal hair brushes and even powder that was used like toothpaste.

History is weird

Why do non-processed food not cause cavities though?

It's carbs.

Frequent and prolonged exposure of the teeth to dietary carbohydrates generates an acidic plaque environment, which promotes the demineralization of the dental enamel

I could imagine that the pre modern dentistry days having things like abscesses would be a literal death sentence.
