Hogwarts Legacy was released for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC on February 10 and got off to a very strong start commercially.
It enjoyed the biggest European launch outside of the FIFA and Call of Duty series since October 2018s Red Dead Redemption 2.

We are very pleased with the initial launch and see a bright future for our other platform launches, Warner Bros. Games president David Haddad told Variety on February 16.
Hogwarts Legacy will be released for PS4 and Xbox One on April 4, and for Nintendo Switch on July 25.

While Haddad didnt provide sales figures for the game, first week digital sales in Europe were up 56% compared to last years fantasy blockbuster Elden Ring, which has gone on to sell 20 million copies since its release in February 2022.

The player engagement is spectacular, Haddad added. So far, we have tracked over 152 million hours played, 173 million magical plants grown, 115 million potions brewed and 556 million Dark Wizards defeated.

In updated figures provided after Haddad was interviewed, Warner said that as of October 21, Hogwarts Legacy had seen 267 million hours played, 393 million magical plants grown, 242 million potions brewed and 1.25 billion Dark Wizards defeated.

Developer Avalanche Software recently claimed it currently has no plans to release Hogwarts Legacy DLC expansions.

If they weren't pleased with these results, what the fuck do they want?

Honestly it's a great foundation for a sequel. It's great but there's a few things they could do to really flesh it out in future installments

Plus they got that big ol world map they can reuse

I get it but at the same time, I don't. Other than people who are active online, most people have no idea Rowling says the things she does on Twitter so they don't connect the two things. It's more like naivety to the situation more than not caring about trans people.

Case in point: I wouldn't have any idea what kind of things she stands for if not for CE. It's not really a topic of conversation for most people.

It's nice to see that this game is doing really well.

From what I've heard, it is a fairly polished game although the pc port of the game has some reported issues. Which given the state of most game releases, a game the works with little issues upon release is rare.

People are enjoying the game. Steam reviews show very positive reviews.

Overall I would say it's a good game.

It's not a bad game, but it leans heavily on the fact that it's Harry Potter

Take the same game and make it a brand new IP and it wouldn't be nearly as good. Combat repetitive, open world is mostly just a collectathon

Yeah it's a good base but it's nothing groundbreaking at the moment

Need sequel with deeper content in the open world, give us some London shit like Diagon Alley (that's just diagonally jesus christ these names) and the Ministry and whatnot, add Quidditch and other more school based stuff, and yeah. Could be something special rather than just a solid game

I definitely get that, and I don't believe you're a bad person for buying the game. But it's disappointing how many people are completely unwilling to take even a minor inconvenience for the sake of marginalized people.

Devs finally learning that if you make a solid game out of beloved IPs, people will gladly buy it

Something like the Tomb Raider reboot game, which in general did really well, but because such impossible expectations were set up beforehand they were treated like flops?

the problem with this thinking is that, JK Rowlings life does not depend on how well a video game sells. Even if she never makes another dime, she still has a ton of money. So what is the actual endgame? You boycott one video game, it sells a handful of copies and everyone moves on?

It sold 12 million copies in the first 2 weeks.
