It was an old pc space combat flight sim from 1998. You could play it with a flightstick. A joystick that is like a stick in a cockpit for a ship. My brother actually got one

You fight in a war against aliens in space. The final mission has you chasing an alien super ship through a wormhole. It's headed for earth and I think it was like a death star situation. It wanted to blow up earth I think

You fly into the wormhole after the aliens and the fighting happens inside the tunnel. It's really cool looking. When you win, you see a cinematic of the super ship coming out of the wormhole right next to earth but exploding as its emerging

I've never seen anything attempt combat inside a wormhole before or after that game

The war is clearly lost, the Shivans have an enormous and unstoppable armada, and your faction is desperately trying to evacuate millions of civilians out of a doomed system before they destroy the last jump node into it. Dogfights are happening all over the place and bombing runs are taking out overcrowded transports left and right, and youre just trying to stave off the horde long enough to get a few million more people.

Then the Shivans cause the star to go supernova, everybody starts losing their shirt over the comms, and you have to just blast at full-speed to the jump node in desperate attempt to get out before you are obliterated along with the millions of soon to be dead stuck in slower ships.

Sounds cool. I never actually played the sequel so I only know the first one
