It's on a completely different level than simply just being lazy - it looks, runs and plays like it's unfinished. How did this even happen?

Yeah, the game is fun, but it's extremely unpolished and missing a lot of features (no Elite Four rematches, no Battle Tower, etc.). It's clear that they had an unmovable deadline forced on them that left them no choice but to release the game in a mostly-playable state.

I agree. Its so sad the game only feels like its starting in the last area. And a third of it is just spamming R. And so much for open world. You approach the team star base from the wrong angle, you get kicked out. Lmao.

Legends Arceus and Scarlet/Violet were made by different teams and developed mostly alongside each other, so that probably has something to do with PLA doing some things better than ScVi.

Basically everything about PLA was better. The graphics, for sure the art direction, the performance, the music, hell even the core game play loop.

agreed actually. Also this game lacked in spectacle. The dogs Vs eternatus was so much more epic than whatever happened in this game.

you get sandwiches to help a dog and your bike dog recover, make some delinquents go back to class, and help your bike dog stand up to the other bike dog.

I like the mom/dad plot but it shouldve been the whole game and developed more. Not just at the very end

Developers are never lazy, they're time crunched to hell to get a game finished as soon as possible

we know the switch can do better. mario odyssey and breath of the wild both look pretty decent. SV barely looks better than the 3ds games. not that SwSh or acreus look all that much better. but no excuse for SV to run so shit. it's obvious the game needed to be delayed till like march or longer.

The performance is bad but mostly easy to ignore. Except when you're on water, then it's totally impossible to ignore. Assuming they patch the performance, that will help a lot. I like everything else about the game other than continual trend in the series of removing features that shouldn't be removed.

I actually thought the main game was fine besides the technical problems. What really turned me off of the game is how fucking grindy the postgame is. If you want a competitive team for online it takes forever to grind the Tera shards you need for them. Then the meta changes and your team is useless now and you need to grind again

I was crushed to learn that Faye Webster picked the water starter, personally.

Hell, the same year saw the release of Xenoblade 3, another open-world (well, kinda, in Xenoblade 3's case) game whose game world is much larger than Paldea, and while it did have some performance issues (because the truth is that the Switch--while capable--is still lacking in power, especially this late in the game), they were not anywhere near to the degree that ScVi has.

They should have did what Xenoblade does and put the Pokemon's levels above their heads by default so that you don't have to specifically target them to see how strong (or weak) they are.

The game does give you an abundance of Poke Dolls to avoid dealing with high leveled wild Pokemon at least. But trainers with significantly higher leveled Pokemon you can't really do much about. I read you can actually run from trainer battles now, but it still treats it as a loss and you lose money. Not sure if that's true though.
