I agree with this. You should only be able to copyright the parts that are facilitated through human invention. The programming code for the AI can be copyrighted. The art used in the training should be copyrighted. Anything generated from the AI should be public domain. If anything, it would cut down on the amount of patent and copyright trolling, as AI generation can outperform human generation exponentially. Don't people usually have a list of sketches before the finished product? Having a portfolio of your progress of individual pieces might be important to have if someone asks Someone with AI Art would have to generate this process and the AI might make it too clean to be early sketches ...
