I have a Japanese Saturn copy of Mega Man X3 for reasons I can't comprehend, and I want to know if there's any alternative whatsoever to getting a Japanese Saturn. Granted, Saturns aren't that much, but I'd rather not buy a whole other console just to play an obscure port of a game I already own.

Saturn emulation has come a long way in the past few years. Not that I'd know anything about it or condone it, though.

No other console plays Saturn games like Playstation consoles often do if that's what you're asking.

Might as well just sell it. Most Saturn collectors own Japanese models so it should be really easy to sell

The polymega can play saturn, PS1, Sega CD, and NeoGeo CD games out of the box.

It can play more consoles with cartridge attachments.

I love mine.

4 in 1s aren't expensive if they break you can just buy another one.

Might be worth to get a flash cart so you don't have to play the original if you're worried about it damaging the carts

Yeah, if you constantly take it out and put it back in. Generally, people gonna just leave it in unless they have some sort of OCD and have to take it out every time they are done playing it. I had mine in for YEARS up until last year when I decided to go ahead and put a TerreaOnion in mine.

That's the Sega Genesis w/32x and CD, with Gameshark, Sonic & Knuckles, and a Sonic game.

Another issue to add to this situation is that the Saturn cartridge port is notoriously cheap. The third party carts having non beveled edges are just adding to the problem. General recommendation in the Saturn community is to either leave the 4-in-1 cart in the port once you get it working or use OEM and have a spare cartridge port for when it fails.

I'm not sure what this has to do with my comment regarding the Saturn's cheap cartridge port. Yeah the OEM stuff is inexpensive but constantly switching between backup cart, 4mb, and 1mb(a couple games require the 1mb but aren't compatible with the 4mb), would lead to a lot of wear on that cartridge port.

Forget the modchip, ODEs are even easier than a modchip to install and use.Don't even need to worry about patching region stuff.

Ah gotcha. Yeah the legit ODE solutions are costly but incredible if you can part with the money. Too bad MODE's compatibility with the PSX is subpar.
