I've beaten Earthbound way more than Chrono Trigger. I sometimes go back and play Earthbound again but Chrono Trigger I'm definitely never playing again.

I played earthbound when I was a kid, I didn't play CT until after CC and I was an adult.

I have far far more nostalgia for Earthbound.

i played chrono trigger three times and still don't remember much about it, but i've played earthbound once and i remember a lot of it

chrono trigger is so easy that the battle system feels undermined. dungeons are pretty forgettable but the writing is fun, and it's a rare rpg that actually doesn't feel padded (though lots of rpgs still copy its shitty ng+). music is great but honestly besides the credits and the song for the first town i really do not remember that much of it

earthbound is mostly easy too but everything else is so much more memorable

CHRONO Trigger is one of them games I always have nostalgia for despite every time Ive ever played it I got bored when you go to the future with the robots and shit. I think I once made it to the caveman area but that was it

I feel like Earthbound peaks at Fourside and obviously Moonside (but not the sewers, though Summers is okay), and doesnt reach the same highs again until Lumine Hall. So the 4th-6th sanctuaries end up feeling like chores, plus the whole thing with Scaraba and Deep Darkness is kinda forgettable and/or annoying.

Ive only done a full playthrough of Chrono Trigger once, and I can see both the future and prehistoric areas dragging. Everything with Magus is a high point of the game though, and the game really picks up from your first real fight with Lavos, even if youre essentially just doing side quests for the rest of the game.

CT is a timeless classic
earthbound was never very good. it was unique and novel in the 90s, and increasingly irrelevant every decade thereafter until every indie dev started fellating it for a good 3-5 years in the early 2010s

I appreciate the music and quirkiness of Earthbound, but man I could not get very far

Earthbound is great, but Chrono Trigger is an all time masterpiece.

Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.
