No I was hoping someone on CE had one and could clarify lol

The nurse at my primary told me to drink a bunch of water before the procedure but they hospital told me to not eat or drink anything 4 hours beforehand

Sorry then. Usually with an ultra sound they smear cold gel on the area and put the camera against you move it around and not tell you anything until the doctor has a chance to review it. As to the water I would think it depends on the area being scanned, but better safe than sorry avoid drinking too much. Like taking pills with a small bit of water should be fine.

Being that they said four hours it sounds like they are scanning your stomach or upper intestine, and dont want things that could effect the image. Again just assuming sorry.

probably should have told whichever came second that you were told something different by the first person. most likely you'll want to go with what the hospital said if that's where the ultrasound is gonna be done, but it is probably best to call and inquire about it to make sure.

split the difference - eat and drink a bunch, then stop 4 hours beforehand

Depends on which area the ultrasound is focused on, and what the medical issue is. If it's a bladder ultrasound, for example, they may want your bladder distended to give them a clearer picture of what's going on in there. If it's higher up in the GI tract, then usually they ask you to fast beforehand.
