Ive competed the other three routes. I got a good grasp of the story but there are so many holes I dont know. What is the deal with Jeralt? What about Byleths mom? Byleths history in general. I know Claudes route dove into those that Slither in the Dark but I thought I would learn more about them. Not interacting with Rhea at all during the Dimitri route was just strange.

I heard that the Church route is very similar to Edelgards route but I dont know if that is story wise or just map wise. I feel like Im missing key info about this story. Byleths past, his father that seemed to be much older than he looked for some reason, Byleths mother which I know nothing about. There is so much Im still missing. Im hoping the Church route has a bunch of story I havent seen yet

You basically get to hear things from Rhea's perspective at the end and that's it.
You might get some info on Jeralt, don't remember at this point.

Byleth's mom's history is only available in the Cindered Shadows DLC.

I also expected to hear more about Edelgards mom which I feel she had a complicated story. Just nope? She did what she did because she wanted to see her old family? Nothing more to it? I feel like there are some lose story threads out there that arent satisfying me

I hate how I have to go play another game with gameplay I might not like to get the more compete story

then just read the wiki..

The church route isn't worth doing unless you really, really, really want to play through TH again. It's a mess.

Church route shares more in common with Verdant Wind. (No Blood of the Eagle and Lion Chapter, and the final map is unique, but the rest are very similar, atleast map wise)

The part about Edelgard is the fact its a split-path from Black Eagles

IE: Pick Black Eagles, clear White Clouds (part 1) then at the end you get to choose either Crimson Flower, or Silver Snow, AKA Church.

There are some "Unlock" criteria for Crimson flower, if you dont meet those youre forced into Silver Snow, but even if you do meet them, you can still pick Silver Snow, youre just allowed to choose is all.

The unlock criteria just unlocks the abillity to choose.

I just find it crazy that this game teases you the entire time about Byleths history, Heralds age, etc and doesnt deliver in game. Why hint that Jeralt is older than he is? Why hint that Byleth has no idea how old he is? Why leave us these story breadcrumbs just for us to learn about it in another game or I have to go to a wiki to find out?

because he is. Rhea transplanted some blood into him which gave him a crest. Hes over a hundreds years old.

As someone who played Three Houses and Three Hopes, you probably won't gain that much more insight from playing both of them. Especially anything about Jeralt and Byleth.

A lot of the lore is simply like that, sometimes even contradictory depending on the perspective you're given. It's probably on purpose most of the time, as they need the player to have reasons to explore the multiple routes but they can't have any one route feeling more significant story wise. The story would probably be more cohesive if they stuck to one or two routes, I hear that was the original intent.

Silver Snow explains how Rhea transplated her blood to him, I don't believe any other route tells you this. Jeralt's actual age is never revealed though and it's something meant to be infered. I guess it could've been covered somewhere but it's been a long time since I played TH.

If you recruit Jeralt and bring him into battle against Rhea, he says "Really takes you back 300 years, doesn't it?"

It's out there in video form, but the thumbnail is a bit too spoilery and I don't think GFAQs obscures thumbnails even if spoilered.
