Well. What are they?

They did make fun of racism. Said they regretted making fun of climate change before and made fun of far right conspiracy theory. They also made fun of Trump and picked a side against him and said making fun of him was hard because satire became reality. In fact in an episode they litterally encouraged people to vote against him

That said, they seem to hold more conservative views on trans athletes

South Park has always had the motto of "fuck you guys" and making fun of literally everyone.

Honestly I was a bit surprised to learn it, but recently I have learned they said they were republicans, but it was decades ago. They said they hated both the left and the right a bit later

South Park was never conservative. The closest thing they have to allegiance is with Mormons.

I remember that episode. Even though it made fun of the religion it still portrayed the Mormons themselves as good people

Can they really be "apolitical" with so many memorable episodes satirically ripping on a broad spectrum of politics?

I would be more concerned if there WEREN'T shows allowed to do that, because that's living under the tyranny of authoritarian overreach.

Socially they are quite liberal and dare I say occasionally progressive on some racial issues. Fiscally they are conservative but they do seem to have soured on some parts of libertarianism like climate change 'skepticism'.

Majority of their episodes, especially past episodes, usually leans on the left since many of their episodes deal with social issues. It's really only their newer ones where they had episode lean slight right like their trans episodes.

That was probably one of the best episodes in a long time. Little bias since I'm a big macho man fan as well, lol.

south park has a really puerile political ideology to it that doesnt really examine anything beyond 'anyone who kicks up a fuss about anything is stupid and should shut up'. it's watchable , especially from seasons like 3 to around 10, but beyond that it gets iffy. i dont think they are conservative though so much as just really stupid centrists

i dont think anything they've ever made displays that more than team america. like south park, there are a lot of legitimately funny in the movie, but it does this insane balancing act where it's trying to weigh americans bombing the shit out of middle eastern countries with them finding celebrities protesting military intervention to be annoying to somehow come out as equal in the end and has this final grandstanding message that makes almost no sense whatsoever as a conclusion
