No. It goes on their books as unearned revenue, which is a liability. It is not related to stock price.

In all seriousness, I havent bought a game there in at least a decade I think. Buying games at GameStop is a terrible experience, which is really ironic considering they were basically the last game store left. And they also bought up all the other game stores.

You have a terrible experience? I always have a good one. I like talking to the employees about video ganes, they seem nice.

Not really a terrible experience (well there was one time I got kicked out for playing a game demo but I was a kid so whatever), more like it just sucks as a place to buy video games. Dark musty atmosphere, at one point they stopped buying and selling games from before the PS2 era I think (and this was in the late 2000s), they sell opened games as new, and probably other stuff if I thought about it

I've basically completely phased them out, by now. Best Buy's gamers club was way better, back when it was around. After it was gone, Wal Mart's $10 discount on new games brought me in. Now that that's gone on all new releases moving forward, I just go wherever closest, which isn't gamestop.

I'll still swing by occasionally. Tons of people trade in stuff they don't know the value of. I've found a fair few limited physical print games in their Used section that I know go for hundreds online, always selling for like $15 bucks (pretty sure they just use the digital price as a reference point).

Once I saw a guy at the counter trying to trade in about $1000 dollars worth of n64 stuff. Console, Conker, Pokemon Stadium 2, collector edition carts for Ocarina and Majora, paper mario, both castlevanias, good stuff. Guy at the counter offered like $100 for it (was surprised they even accepted that stuff, tbh). I told the guy I'd give him $200 cash, walked out with a nice haul. That was fun.

perfect place to get a lowball accepted, though. Seller doesn't know what it's worth, and the only other bidder literally isn't allowed to compete, lol.

TBH I'm just glad I was able to save these gems from whatever landfill gamestop was gonna send em to.

I don't really like the selling opened stuff as new yeah, although I usually get used stuff. I would also like it if they carried older stuff but I have other local options for that; they sell last gen games at the lowest prices around so I love them for that.

Also the dark and musty part is really surprising since they are all well lit and don't have that kind of issues at any of the ones in my area. This one spot by a local guy who had everything and was a weird old guy who new everything about games was the dirty place by me ha ha
