No they won't. They've already blown that bridge several times.

The difference between this and previous scandals is that they have no unified message and they keep walking into landmines. This is partly because they don't actually know what the FBI knows (which means they have to be cautious) and partly because Trump himself keeps directly refuting the GOP's narrative and there's only so many times that can happen before there's no hope for a consistent defense.

But the real kicker this time is that they're having to watch their backs. Trump knows there's a mole in his entourage and it's driving him nuts. GOP leadership also suspects several in Congress. So behind-the-scenes shenanigans are not coordinated like they were before. In addition, Roger Stone has basically booked it and Steve Bannon is out of commission. So the masterminds behind a lot of this are gone.

The GOP can't trust Trump or his inner circle to maintain the same narrative. They also can't trust themselves. It's a complete shitshow behind the scenes.
