Playing Resident Evil Village, and it's got me thinking. Is there any better setting for horror than a haunted manor? Like, it is the classic for a reason. Predates any other horror locale. It's the uncanny valley of houses. In theory it's a place where people live, which adds personality to it and let's it be rife with tragic personal backstories. Based on this and Biohazard my impression of RE games is that they get worse fast in the last few hours and then end really suddenly when they feel like things are about to amp up and get better.
