EDIT: This is on PS4 and presumably other consoles. Dunno about PC.

Basically, you have access to all the stray DLC and expansions (other than newest one: High Isle), many of which aren't included in any physical or digital bundles. You also get increased storage space for your bank, in addition to an infinite-use craft bag to store all your stray crafting materials. That last part is the real game-changer as without it, you're often stuck playing Inventory Manager 2022 and the game can suck a lot.

Even after the trial ends, you can keep your progress in questlines, plus abilities, like opening thieves' troves or instakilling some NPCs with the Blade of Woe. You can also get the biggest style house by doing the Elsweyr and Southern Elsweyr questlines (the latter unlocks extra rooms).

If you want a cheat sheet on "easy" freebies to collect, try this:

The craft bag is dependent on ESO+. So, after the trial ends, you'll still have access to all the stuff you put in, but can't put anything else in until the subscription (or trial) is renewed. If you have an older account, it's best to log in now on all characters, just to free up space. Personally, I had nine characters (6 legit + 3 storage alts), so having this right now is a godsend. They haven't even done a damn trial all year when 2021 had three.

A shame not permanent as a big part of why I dropped it. Probably still worth doing as you said though incase I do pick it back up at some point.

Yeah, the game without ESO+ can be an inventory-managing grind, so now's the best time to strike. If you already have an older account, buy stuff you need (Molybdenum, for easiest) in bulk and throw in the infinite bag. Then, just never pick any more of it up to save space in the normal inventory!

But yeah, ZOS is garbage for locking a crafting bag behind their subscription service.

I tried to get in to this, I really did. But I need a LITTLE more hand holding. It's cool you can go in and play any area at any level but to me it was VERY daunting in an MMO to be told to go level wherever you want.

I tried looking up a general overview of how best to tackle the areas and in what order but they were all different and left me confused with all the DLC stuff.

Not saying it isn't a good game. It's just not for me.

I even subbed for a month and bought some of the DLC.

Molybdenum is selected by default in the crafting menu, IIRC, so if you just want to make something through crafting, it's the easiest (laziest) option to pursue. You can do it for other stuff, too, of course. Buying through guild traders might be cheaper than buying from stylemaster NPCs, but I dunno.

I'm probably going to go through all my crafting surveys as well to clear space. It's a shame there's no double harvest thing going on, but space is more important in the long run.

I just played whatever (Elsweyr first since I'm a cat man) when I first started and had an okay time, but yeah, some people want to play in order. There's a GIGANTIC flow chart on Reddit somewhere that tells the general order you're "supposed" to go in. In general, overworld content is piss easy, so you generally won't be too overmatched unless you run into group content, like Craglorn stuff, world bosses, etc.

If you want to power level, you can always use Alik'r dolmen groups. Because of how quick they fire, I think they run 24/7, although probably a bit more heavily during XP-bonus events. You need to be CP160 to max out random equipment values, so that's the point where you start worrying about your endgame gear.

This link might be helpful, too:

There's a lot of stuff you can unlock just by visiting a particular zone or dungeon.

I'm a huge TES fan and ESO is so unbelievably boring. It doesn't even feel like an MMO.

Yeah, I feel like the writing in the game hasn't really reached even Skyrim's level, and that shouldn't be the biggest bar to clear. There are a few missions I thought were fine (Empty Nest in Murkmire was d'awww), though it's mostly mindless murdering and hoarding that's the real attraction, I guess.
