fun fact: oil wells are not run "dry". as post #2 alluded to, they are run until it doesn't make financial sense.

eventually due to scarcity oil prices will go way up and then they will re-pump those wells

there's a major problem where i live of companies abandoning wells and not cleaning them up, then going broke/changing names/etc. so the government has to pay for the cleanuip.
