Just wait till the GOP breaks the filibuster in the next few years to pass a federal ban. Then we'll see just how ballsy these states are in defense of the right to choice.
Don't get me wrong here, this is 100% the right thing to do, but I am enough of a cynic that I don't believe that if push comes to shove they'll hold their ground.

The AZ GOP candidate is already saying if she wins they'll ignore any federal gun laws and basically start a nullification crisis. So yeah, the GOP is already going to do what they want, Dems need to do the same.

Oh I agree. My own state of Missouri literally passed a law stating that they would not comply with any federal gun laws that don't line up qith Missouri's laws.

That kind of decision comes with consequences though and people need to fully understand what it means. This is late Republic Era kind of territory we are talking about. Once you've acknowledged that the whole system is only held together by people agreeing to be bound by the rules and then start disobeying those rules you no longer have a country.

Again, I'm not disagreeing, only pointing out what this means long term.

Oh absolutely. Its just at this point a recognition of where we are. The system is unfixably fucked and it just becomes a matter of protecting people as long as possible

Good, glad I grew up in MA. I'm hoping all blue states step up and do the same.
