Built a new computer
Installed windows
No drivers available for network adapter or built in wireless antenna.
Somehow neither my gf nor I have a spare flash drive in the entire house to transfer drivers from my old PC to new PC.
Need to wait for Thursday for a flash drive to arrive. :(

Typically if you have ethernet plugged in while installing Windows it will install the drivers.

Nah, looks like the network card itself isn't being acknowledged, my PC isn't even aware the ethernet is plugged in atm.

Install new drive on old PC, or vice versa.

Or use your smartphone as usb storage.

What kind of devices are you using that Windows 10/11 doesn't have basic drivers for them?

Beats me. It's an ASUS motherboard and it didn't come with anything. And I tried using my phone as USB storage but my old pc won't read it as a storage device, so I had to use a bluetooth connection, haven't tried to transfer it yet to the new PC.

That's so crazy to me. Windows should at least have the basic drivers for networking. Are you sure it's not something else that's the issue? I've never seen that happen before on modern PCs. Like if I were to build a PC right now, it'd be able to get to the internet without me having to install any unique drivers manually.

This is why I always used to have a usb floppy drive in my bag.

Worst case scenario I can install the new hard drive in my old PC for a moment and put the drivers on there, but that's a lot of work instead of waiting a day for a USB drive.

Which motherboard? But I mean really, Windows itself should have installed basic drivers so that the Ethernet port would work. If you go to Device Manager and then to network adapters, it doesn't show a functioning network adapter?

Correct. It's an ASUS TUF Gaming Z690-PLUS WIFI D4. The device is visible, but the drivers for the network adapter aren't installed, and I couldn't find ones that approximately matched in windows. I should have it fixed tomorrow.

Flash drive finally came in, got the drivers installed, and now going through the process of getting everything I want installed and running updates.
