By not messing with settings.

But, my perspective is that a lot of settings are there and just automatically put on whatever pleases the most people. Because the casual person isn't going straight to the options. They're more likely to complain before looking in the menus and realizing they can change settings. As to where people who game more will immediately go into settings to tweak them instead of complain first.

It's why I think auto aim is usually default. You can't tell me most developers vision is to play with autoaim.

What do you think about this?

Edit:Mainly curious of console gamers. Cause I know PC gamers are gonna 100% be on my end. They're all about tweaking.

For console games I think they do tbh. Joysticks on a controller aren't that accurate.

Its a weird statement, the developers put settings there so you could customize them to your preferences. Like I always turn vibration off first thing when playing on consoles.

I tweak the settings as needed. It's what they're there for.

I play the game as intended in terms of not intentionally exploiting glitches, at least the first time through.

Id compromise by saying "aren't as accurate as PC". Because enough people admit that that don't even prefer PC. But if you can't also be accurate with joysticks, that's also due to skill and experience. You can easily pull off headshot after headshot if you're good with a controller and the swing of things. Just like Id get smoked trying to play on mouse and keyboard against someone who normally uses it

Console FPS games that feel good to play always have some sort of aim assist. There's just not enough range in the thumbsticks. It isn't easy at all without it.

First thing I do when getting a new game is go to options and see what settings can be adjusted. Specifically x/y axis inversion, I can't stand it.

Difficulty is also relative, so I don't really know where else this convo could go tho. You think it's too hard on console and I don't. That's kind of just what it'll be. I started off with a reasonable compromise and really can't go anywhere else if you can't accept it

Auto aim is not the same as aim assist. The far majority of shooters do not give you an option to turn off the latter.

Auto aim is when you hold the aim button and it snaps to an enemy. COD being a big example for this. Aim assist slows down your reticule when aiming over enemies. The latter has been almost a universal thing for console shooters since the first Halo and is an outright requirement. You probably just don't notice it.

If settings exist, the developer intended you to set them.

I never said it was impossible. But it's not ideal for the far majority of games. It's the clunkiest form of aiming and these games are also on M&K where aim assist isn't needed at all. It exists to close that gap between the two.

There's a reason aim assist is always on for controllers in multiplayer shooters.

It's bad when you can't even let a conversation this mundane hit you as just a casual discussion. 2 different friends brought this up independently of each other and that made it relevant enough to want to bring up with a room of different perspectives for more insight. Not everything is so god damn self serving lol.

I think I mostly feel insulted when people think this is the best ai could come up with if I wanted to make something up or humble brag >_>. This would be as imaginatively bankrupt as you could get if it was fabricated.

I don't disagree with any of this. I feel like the topic shifted. I was just originally saying it's doable. I don't disagree with the deeper insight about it.
