im fine with hard difficulty but i never played a souls game, only closest thing would be some of the older monster hunter games that would be similar to souls playstyle i think. is elden ring like skyrim in that your some player customized dude to adventure your way through the game or is it more narrative driven like witcher or what? i recently enjoyed ghosts of tsushima is thats any indicator, played that on lethal difficulty and had a great time.

The world is full of lore, world building, and mysteries to solve.

However it is not spoonfed to you. Ghost is a fantastic game but the story is told to
you in a pretty straightforward manner, while Elden Ring takes the opposite approach.

ER wants you to put the pieces together and fill in the gaps yourself. Id say its like a book where certain pages have been torn out and hidden around the world. You find the pages and put them where they belong in the book.

Well, I haven't played a FromSoft game and had a good grasp on what happened or what the game was about by the end. I always look into the lore videos for that lol. But I don't read item and armor descriptions, analyze statues or architecture or read between the lines for NPC dialogue and stuff. The environments are cool to explore and the enemies are fun to fight.
