The levels were so fun and best characters

I like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe the best, but the online races in MK:DS were so much more fun than Double Dash (at the time).

DS was the best tbh

Mario Kart 64 is still da best today

while double dash had the most fun gimmick, the one on the wii was still my favorite

Mario Kart is one of the few video game series that got better with each game. The only one that took a step back was Super Circuit on the GBA, and that was mainly because of hardware limitations. Every other Mario Kart sequel was better than the last. 8 > 7 > Wii > DS > DD > 64 > SC > SNES.

Double Dash does have the best courses but you're being delusional if you don't think any of the ones that came after it are better. DS is even a lot better in everything aside from the graphics

DD is my favorite but DS is probably the best.

DS had the most competitive gameplay with that snaking technique.

you played dd recently? 8 feels way better and it's not even close, we've definitely come a long way since then

I think it made the game lame. The game was already fun without that. Now all of a sudden you had to do a lot more movements and button presses just to keep up with everyone else.

Which you could call skill but really all it did was put you in a higher tier of speed that everyone else had to match. Which essentially means that everyone is snaking for no reason other than the fact that if they don't, you automatically lose because you are way slower.

In my opinion it's a crappy way to add skill. However I was only 13 and I never really bothered to learn to do it. I bought Mario Kart to play something casual on handheld and I didn't have any desire to get good at a Mario racing game. I was super good at Wipeout HD and that felt rewarding and you didnt have to do anything like snaking constantly.

And it still had a ton of skill in it. Forcing you to snake the whole game just felt annoying. It was basically a glitch that everyone was forced to abuse at all times.

7 was the only one that felt flat for me. Felt too much like DS and there was something oddly barebones about it. Never played 8.

It's weird that I see DD get so much love. I remember when it first came out, most of the internet was like "It's not 64, into the trash it goes" >_>

I really liked Wii, too. Those online "tournaments" were kind of addicting.
