The fact that it's coming out in January (a couple of weeks from now) is already a bad sign enough.
And yeah, the last two movies aren't super stellar or anything (though I still enjoy them. 3 is pretty bad but 4 is legit in my book).

But looking at the trailer and the pitch/synopsis for the new film -- not only does it look very barebones, but it also feels like they're basically just doing Scream 4 again.
Each Scream movie had this underlaying satirical theme that poked fun of horror/slasher movies. You know, the first one did it, the second one talked about sequels, the third one was about trilogies and the supernatural, etc. And Scream 4's whole deal was about horror movie reboots and bringing them back for a whole new generation.
From what I've seen in trailers and such, the new Scream movie seems to revolve around...bringing Scream to a whole new generation again...

I don't know. I just felt like talking about Scream because I love this serious, but damn, the new one does not look very promising.

I'm still gonna go see it though because I'm basic af.

The "new generation" stuff doesn't bother me. I didn't like when they said that there would be less focus on horror movie references though.

Yeah, I really hate that naming convention of naming a newer entry of something the same as the original entry that's becoming so prominent nowadays.

It normally wouldn't bother me too much if Scream 4 didn't already do that in such a way that tied nicely into the theme of that movie and had a really solid payoff.

Are you for real?
