lowkey one of the best in the series

It's my favorite on the NES.

I liked its surreal nature and open ended levels. The ending theme is one of my favorite video game tunes too. My mom learned to play it on piano by ear. She loved the game when she was younger.

But it's a game about a dream so it should help you sleep imo.

Has there really ever been a bad mainline Mario game? I know people dont like Sunshine but its still considered good just not the 64 sequel people wanted

I got the game for Christmas in 88. We had gone Christmas shopping one day. I got one of those super balls from a coin capsule machine. I got it back to the house and was hucking it around the parlor. It bounced into the shopping bags. I went to fish it out and found my copy of SMBII. I yelled about it -- I was like 4 at the time. My mom and dad run into the room. My dad got mad I found it. Not at me, but mad about it being found.

Mom thought it was awesome because she could start playing it sooner. So it became my early Christmas present that year. It was awesome! I'll always have great memories of it.

My mom is a whiz at the slot machine.

It's so cool to have parents like that. My dad and mom both enjoyed games and playing with my dad was always a blast because seeing him get salty over losing at Donkey Kong was the best. Plus, both of us top 5'ing the DK arcades was a blast.

Nintendo slapping mario characters on a completely different game just so we can have something to tied us over until mario bros 3 (since the actual mario 2 was the lost levels/basically an expansion pack for mario 1) was probably in the top 5 big brained ideas they ever had. I also loved the hell out of mario 2....I think me always picking peach started my lifelong love as mainly picking female characters in video games or somethin'

as a kid I used to wonder why Wart never came back. In fact to this day he hasn't. I know now he is meant to be from a different IP, and only got made into a mario thing for the west. But other Mario 2 enemies are now part of the canon. At least let Wart be in Mario Kart

Agreed. Glad to see SMB2 getting some love, it's criminally underrated. It's my favorite Mario platformer. Killer OST and introduced some staple Mario characters and concepts, i.e. Birdo, Shy Guy, turnips, floating Peach, etc.

They should let him and captain syrup from the warioland series show up in canon. Wart because more big baddies is always coo, and captain syrup because eyyyy she cute.

It is weird that Birdo is the only boss from that game who ever became a mainstay (albeit in the same capacity as Waluigi and Daisy).

Wart would be such a welcome addition to modern Mario games, whether main games or the spinoffs.

It's pretty much the exact same game. All they did was change the player characters. In Doki Doki Panic, instead of Mario, Luigi, Peach and Toad, it is a royal family. The king, queen, prince and princess. The plot is basically the same as the Simpsons Arcade Game. Wart kidnapped their baby, so the family sets out to rescue it
