i remember playing the first one a loooong time ago, and thinking it was p lit for its time.

I used to have a lot of fun with the Zenonia series. I only played up to Zenonia 4, but it was still a lot of fun. The world is actually explorable like a console rpg, instead of stages like the gacha games.

Chimera Recollect is a neat little build-a-mon pinball RPG. No micros, no ads offline; just simple fun.

Too simple maybe but still good.

While available on the PC Mini Metro is better on the phone/tablet as it works excellently with touch controls. Final Fantasy Dimensions is a bit hit or miss but it is a FFV look-alike only available on the phone so it does have some pull. Otherwise there are niche RPGs that are sometimes interesting but generally fall into the "these aren't actually good but they tickle my interests" or "are a bad/weak port of a good game" categories.

Stardew Valley of course.

Retroarch along with Netplay, assuming Nevershine has any friends. :)

FFT works great on IOS

80 days is a nice iOS game too

Microtransactions are kind of a must for free-2-play games since they need to make money somehow. And most people don't want to pay up-front for a full game on mobile, so that business model is rare.

That said, all the best free-2-play games can be enjoyed without ever spending a cent on them. I've been playing Fate/Grand Order for nearly 5 years and have never felt compelled to spend money (I mean I did whale during the first year and a half to get a few specific characters, but that was for Youtube content and not because I needed them to win).

I've played close to 70,000 games of solitaire and that's been fun (MobilityWare, iOS)
