The game has this really neat central concept that got me interested in it: all characters, including the main character, are on timers and will die when their timer is up. And the general gameplay is comparable to a Metroidvania or 2D Zelda; early on you're told about places you need to go to get The Special Items, but they're off your map and you'll need to fill it in screen by screen to get there. There's the possibility that if you don't reach an area in time, a character you could've met will be dead instead.

All that stuff is neat to me, but man the game is punishing/I'm bad at the combat. I'm playing on the standard difficulty and barely surviving a couple screens away from the village before I die and have to start back there. And the time keeps going with each death; it doesn't reset to a previous point at all. The game wants me to solve puzzles out in the world, but I'm too busy trying not to get killed to focus on them, which is a frustrating experience.

Idk, probably not gonna play much more of it.
