This is like if the car company Ford tried to justify their new car not having an engine by saying not all carriages have engines.

They're "supposedly" settling on later next year.

Hopefully they're using the PC version as the foundation and moving on from this stupid cross-gen business.

I actually have no issue with the game having no police chases. I didnt want GTA, I wanted a quest driven, narrative focused RPG and I got a decent one.

HOWEVER, CDPR wilfully advertised CP2077 as a GTA successor so they only have themselves to blame.

This isn't really a new concept though. Lots of games don't have people that chase you. In Fable they'll attack you if you go into town but they won't follow you everywhere. Same for Skyrim. It's kind of standard fare for RPGs. Seems like the only reason people are expecting it is because it has cars.

Its the same in the Witcher 3 and no one cared there. But as I say the issue is they knowingly advertised it as a modern open world game all but saying its the next GTA so

He doesn't use Sonic as justification. He just stupidly uses it, and Elden Ring, as examples of other open world games that don't have police chases.

He does explain it more later

Sasko says it was a combination of the technical limitations of the engine, and not enough time to make it work before release, so it was something that they eventually just gave up on, which is how we got the current system which teleports police to you

I thought I recall enemies following me into dungeons/buildings in Skyrim. May have been a glitch tho

I'm struggling to think of games where there's driving and a police system, but not police driving after you.

They'll follow you for short distances obviously. Especially within the same area

I don't like that people expect every open-world game to be like GTA.

that being said the answer was dumb. We know your game is broken. You just had to settle over it.

Also, souls games have never had a "police" system in place. It would have made more sense to just say "we didnt want to do that" it didn't make sense story wise for V to be commited rampages and stuff anyways.

The next gen update will come but itll only be a resolution bump and maybe some light ray tracing support at the cost of framerate. Its not going to change the game otherwise.

If it was a creative decision I could understand, because honestly cops dont have to chase you in every game and if that's the game they want to make then fine. But it literally does just sound like they ran out of time to make it work and that's garbage

2019 "The most immersive and detailed open world to date."

2021 "You guys expected police to actually drive after you? We thought we'd make a game like Elden Ring or Sonic."

Yeah no. If they couldn't do something as basic as having police chase the player in their cars or having dynamic traffic and pedestrian AI then they probably shouldn't have made an open world crime game in a city. This is basic stuff for that setting and has been the standard for 20 years now.

I can't imagine it being too hard to program an AI to just follow a player but I'm no programmer.

Heck GTA 3 handled it fairly well 20 years ago...
