He's probably experiencing a similar cycle as I am:

Marvel movie is announced --> A little hype
Marvel movie trailers start to drop --> Now we're hype
Watch the movie --> It was pretty fun
Couple weeks after the movie --> That was pretty much the same as all of them
No Marvel movie out or being promoted --> Those movies are ass and Idk why I watch them

Repeat for the next decade

This one is a pretty special exception, to be fair.

Neither have I. Haven't seen Far From Home, haven't seen Black Widow, haven't seen Shang-Chi. The only reason I care about NWH is because they did the whole multiverse thing but seeing as I feel like Marvel wants to promote their own storytelling, they're going to squander the opportunity to bring so many iconic superhero movies together.

Him back in the mid-2010's: I think I'm done with Marvel movies. They're fun, but they're just popcorn movies that I don't gain anything from intellectually from a filmmaking standpoint.
*Goes to see everything leading up to Infinity War*

Him: I don't think I need to finish the infinity War movies. I'm fine with not seeing another Marvel film.
*Watches both Infinity War movies*

Him post-End Game: That was a perfect send off to the series and I don't need to see another film. I just don't care anymore. They can't do anything that will make me interested in these movies again after End Game. I'm done. I'm glad I'm not into the MCU anymore.
*Goes to see Shang-Chi*

Him: This movie was just not good. I knew I didn't care for Marvel movies anymore, but this was the movie that pretty much determined whether or not I would continue watching. I'm so done with Marvel films. I'm not even going to go see the new Spider-Man movie.
*Fast forward to today, he is currently waiting to see No Way Home*

I mean, a lot of the criticisms he have with Marvel movies I totally agree with. Hell, aside from No Way Home, I haven't seen any of them this year out of pure disinterest.
But the difference is, he can't seem to help himself sometimes lmao

lol not really. He takes every opportunity -- be it a new trailer dropping, MCU being brought up in conversation, or frequently bringing the MCU up in conversation himself -- to talk about how he doesn't care about those movies anymore and that they "do nothing for him".
The rest of it is accurate though. He goes to see it. Enjoys it (usually). And after a few weeks, he realizes that he doesn't actually like it and the cycle continue.

I mince no words when I say the way I expect this movie to handle multiple Spider-Men will be the superhero movie equivalent of WWE's Invasion angle.
